At age 12 Deide Carpenter began working in obedience and competing in local matches in Ohio. In the late 1980s her attention turned toward AKC conformation shows. Her 1st show dog "Middy," a black tri Saluki, won 1st place in his class at the national specialty in 1989........ and she was hooked. She spent a short period of time showing both sight and scent hounds before becoming involved with champion Boston Terriers.

After attending art school where she learned the basics of aesthetics and design, she decided to attend grooming school in the mid 90s. Through grooming she found a career that combined her creativity and eye for detail with her life-long love affair with dogs. Over the years, she has gained hands-on experience working for shops in the Canton area. Deide has completed Canine First aid and CPR course study through the American Red Cross and corporate grooming certification.

Deide is involved with a few holistic canine web projects, and donates her graphic design talent to various k9 causes. She is a past member of the Boston Terrier Club of America and Boston Terrier Club of Detroit; she is also webmaster of the BTCD website.  In her spare time she likes to pick up a brush and create oil paintings, dabble in amateur photography, read historical non-fiction, and spend time in the garden. She currently shows naturally-reared champion Boston Terriers under the prefix "Deisign."
