“Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.” Roger Caras
I came to live with my first Boston in 1996 and have been in love with this intelligent and devoted breed ever since. I am dedicated to the health and future of the Boston Terrier breed and believe in upholding the AKC breed standard. Our Dogs are raised as naturally as possible; this includes lots of fresh air and outdoor exercise on our property, minimal vaccines, and a fresh whole-foods diet. Health, structural soundness, clear breathing, temperament, and beauty are our primary goals when we consider a potential breeding.
Haven Hill is located on 9 acres just outside the lush rolling hills of Ohio's scenic Amish country. We utilize several acres of underground fencing to allow the Dobermans to run free, and large fenced, grassy exercise areas where the Boston's play. Some of our dogs live in our home full-time and others spend time both in our home and in our kennel/k9 spa where they can spend the entire day with me while I work with grooming clients. Our fully furnished kennel is heated, air conditioned, clean and modern.
In the fall of 2010 the Deisign kennel prefix will no longer be used as we are taking a few years off from showing and are adding a few new dogs to our line to test out some pedigree combinations. Haven Hill was chosen as our new prefix.
I own a k9 spa and am a fine artist who enjoys painting in oils. I started out training in the obedience ring at age 12, and later became interested in conformation after my beloved Saluki Caje's Ramses, "Middy" placed in the national specialty in 1989. My wonderful husband Matt is a mechanical engineer and program coordinator in the auto industry; he has two masters degrees in both mechanical engineering and business administration. Matt loves the Doberman breed and can usually be found with a 90 lb Dobe on his lap, when he isn't busy spoiling the Bostons. He was raised in Detroit where he grew up working in his grandparents' chain of pet stores - this helped foster his love of dogs from an early age.
Many thanks to Jill and Dr. Ritchey of Sunwoods for their guidance and wonderful dogs they have placed in our home, and to Dr. Jeannie Thomason for her kind nature and continued guidance in Natural-Rearing.
We consider ourselves fanciers of the Boston Terrier breed and enjoy showing when an exceptional dog comes along, however, collecting a large amount of championship titles is not our top priority. We are privileged to share our lives with these magnificent creatures; they take part in our daily activities and are an integral part of our family. Not only are they wonderfully engaging, they are our friends and companions.
Doberman puppies are available on a very limited basis as we may do only 1 breeding every 3 - 4 years or so.
